The Doctor of Philosophy in Demography in Humanities and Social Sciences is offered by University of California Berkeley.

The University of California Berkeley's Department of Demography offers interdisciplinary training that leads to an MA and/or PhD in Demography. 

Demography refers to the systematic study of human populations which is a central topic to several, important policy issues such as:

  • the economic development of Third World countries
  • population aging
  • the environment
  • health and mortality
  • family and household change
  • immigration
  • ethnicity
This is an interdisciplinary field of study that draws from several fields including sociology, economics, social history, anthropology, biology, public health, and statistics.  

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Demography will have graduate students participating in intensive, original research projects
