American Conservatory Theater

The American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) is a major nonprofit company in San Francisco. It offers classical and contemporary theater productions, and has an attached acting school.

The acting school is accredited to grant Master of Fine Arts degrees for aspiring actors. The MFA program is highly competitive, and is known for admitting as few as 8 students per year out of hundreds who audition. It is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top five graduate acting training programs in the U.S.

The Master of Fine Arts program is ranked as one of the top five MFA programs in the nation. The school offers a rigorous three-year course of training that is designed for the most promising actors.
